Welcome to Marlborough Pilates,

My approach is one that teaches you to move in an optimal way now, and to install transformative awareness of your musculoskeletal system that continues throughout everyday life.  Reflecting upon the union of body-mind connections, Pilates is a breath-centred, mindful practice. It supports the function of our internal organs, nervous system, circulation, mental wellbeing and happiness. As we slow down into conscious practice, this is where permanent, positive changes manifest and holistic wellness is achieved.

 

I personalise a varied and evolved repertoire that is true to the roots, philosophy and movement patterns of the Pilates method. Integrating current anatomical and bio-mechanical practices; I offer thoughtful, precise, intelligent exercises that harmoniously integrate with one another, creating a sense of flow, strength and grace.  

You will be guided with clear verbal breathing cues, supported with hands on tactile cues to increase proprioception and awareness of your body position.

The whole body is considered: it’s not just about working the core. A common misinterpretation is that Pilates is an abdominal focused class. Indeed, the core muscles are a focal point to establish a secure foundation for stability, balance and posture, collectively, we work deep within our centres and make our way out to the extremities.

 

My training and experience allow me to help those remedially from underlying structural imbalances, or dysfunctional movement patterns, or compliment other physical training needs and fitness goals. There are those who come to classes for the sheer pleasure and fulfilment of practicing Pilates. If you have a penchant for the classical teachings, I will offer more complex and demanding repertoire.

 

I have tutored so many individuals from all walks of life - novice, experienced, youthful and mature. I recommend Pilates to everybody. It is suitable to people of all ages and all levels of fitness, it’s never too late to start and there is so much to gain.
